Overview

The historical city of Shujabad and oldest Tehsil of Multan is located 45 Km in South of Multan District. River Chenab is flowing in the west of city. Name of the city was dedicated to Nawab Shuja Khan who was the founder of this city. It was a fort in the beginning and was constructed in 1750. Shujabad is famous for its quality mangos. The mango research center rendering its services and guidance to the mango growers throughout the Punjab. The city of Shujabad has one constituency of National Assembly and two constituencies of provincial assembly. Tehsil Headquarter Hospital is only the main hospital which is providing health facilities to the inhabitants of the whole area. This hospital was upgraded in 1960s from RHC to THQ, located at NA 158, PP 221 and UC 96 Railway Road Shujabad. Trauma/ Emergency Department was established on 22.03.2012 and is available 24/7 for patients.

Tehsil Headquarter Hospitals (THQ) provide a range of specialist care in addition to basic outpatient and inpatient services. They typically have about 40-60 beds and a broad range of specialized services including Surgery, Paediatrics, Obstetrics, Gynaecology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, and Urology etc. Patient who are in need of intensive care are usually referred to tertiary care hospital but due to long distance they had to travel and time consumed on road due to heavy traffic and other unavoidable circumstance ,patient’s condition not only deteriorate but also compromise the effectiveness of life saving intervention. Keeping this fact in mind, Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department has decided to revamp facilities in THQ hospital as a part of its Annual Development Plan. This will improve the quality of healthcare and timely provision of life saving treatment and it will be possible to provide health facilities to a large number of patients.
